Beyond the Spotlight w/ Kadyn Blanchard

Kadyn Blanchard is competing in her senior season at Freeland High School.

What is the best part about competing in your winter sport?

Getting to play with my friends and make memories with them.

Who is your team’s biggest rival? Why?

I would have to say Birch Run because they are always good competition and they bring a good atmosphere to the game.

What is your favorite part about completing in high school sports?

Getting to play with and against some of my best friends. Also seeing the school pride that everyone has and receiving the support from other students,

What is your favorite sports movie?

Friday Night Lights because the football team overcomes adversity to win the state championship.

What has your sport taught you about teamwork?

Basketball has taught me that it takes a team to win. Not just one player out on the court, you need all 5. But not only do you need all 5 out on the court, you also need everyone on the bench also. Ready to go in and do her job and being the biggest cheerleader for her teammates.

Where is the toughest place to play on the road during your winter sport?

The toughest place to play on the road would be between Birch Run and Heritage, because when playing there the atmosphere and energy is stacked against you.

What song are you listening to before competing to get you ready?

“Watch Out” because our team has a dance to the song

There is a middle school student who wishers they were you right now…what advice would you give him/her about high school athletics?

Don’t hold yourself back, because High School will be over in the blink of any eye, so make it the best experience you can.
