Beyond the Spotlight w/ Justin Raleigh

Justin Raleigh is competing in his senior season at Millington High School.

What is the best part about competing in your winter sport?

I enjoy competing and trying to win every game with my teammates.

Who is your team’s biggest rival? Why?

Our Frankenmuth because they are a bigger school and we enjoy beating them even more because of it.

What is your favorite part about completing in high school sports?

My favorite part is winning a close game and then having that feeling of accomplishment while celebrating with the team.

What is your favorite sports movie?

White man can’t jump, because the trash talk and one liners in the movie are really funny to me.

What has your sport taught you about teamwork?

Basketball has taught me that teamwork is very important when it comes to sports because if someone is in the wrong spot during a play the coach might not be there to say where they should go so the teammates need to communicate where they should be.

Where is the toughest place to play on the road during your winter sport?

The toughest place to play this year will be Ithaca because they are talented and the bus ride will be very long.

What song are you listening to before competing to get you ready?

I’m upset by Drake

There is a middle school student who wishers they were you right now…what advice would you give him/her about high school athletics?

I would tell them to just practice because when it’s over you will look back on it and wish you would have done more.

Professional educator, sports/fitness photographer, former high school sports coach, collegiate football player and sports (of all kinds) enthusiast.
