Beyond the Spotlight w/ Megan Geitman

Megan Geitman is competing in her senior season at Merrill High School.

What sport(s) and position(s) do you play and how many years have you been on the Varsity team?

I’ve played varsity volleyball for three years, and I’ve been a libero since the beginning of my junior year.

List any academic or athletic achievements you have earned during high school career (i.e. honor roll, all-conference, student council, all-state, etc.)

Honor roll four years, National Honor Society for two years, Student Council Representative three years, and All Conference Honorable Mention.

What do you enjoy most about competing in high school sports?

I love the constant learning when competing in sports, it’s always about how you can improve what you’re doing.

What is your best memory from HS sports so far, and why is it meaningful to you?

It would have to be winning a district title for volleyball last year. Especially because we hadn’t won one in about thirty two years.

What are you looking forward to most this upcoming season?

I’m looking forward to improving as a team, and making the making some memories that will last a life time.

What’s your go to pre-game/contest meal? Where do you get it from?

Normally it’s whatever we are having for team dinner, other than that it tends to be a Subway sub.

Who is your team’s biggest rival? What makes that rivalry special or different from the other teams you’ll face this season?

I don’t feel like we necessarily have a rival, every team we face we have to bring our A-game.

What is one personal and one team goal that you have for this upcoming season?

A personal goal for me is getting a pancake this season. A team goal would have to be communicating on the court more.

If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice as a Freshman, what you would it be?

Don’t be afraid to be aggressive, it will make you a better player.
